Program Overview
The Health & HIV/AIDS Awareness program promotes access to accurate health information, prevention services, and referrals to reduce the spread of HIV/AIDS and improve community wellbeing.
We focus on youth, adolescents, women, and vulnerable populations who face high health risks and limited access to services.
The Challenge
Many young people lack accurate information about sexual and reproductive health, HIV prevention, and available health services.
Stigma, misinformation, and limited access to testing and counselling continue to expose youth and families to preventable health risks.
Our Solution
We deliver community-based health education, awareness campaigns, and peer-led sensitization to promote informed and healthy choices.
Our interventions include:
  • HIV/AIDS awareness and prevention campaigns
  • Sexual and reproductive health education
  • Peer education and formation of youth clubs
  • Counselling, testing referrals, and self-testing promotion
  • Linkages to government and accredited health facilities
Hepatitis B, C, D & E Awareness
Viral hepatitis—particularly Hepatitis B, C, D, and E—remains a silent epidemic in many Ugandan communities, leading to liver disease and liver cancer when left undetected.
FIRM advocates for prevention, vaccination, early detection, and care for those affected.
Our hepatitis programme includes:
  • Advocacy for hepatitis B vaccination for children
  • Support for patients living with liver cancer and chronic hepatitis
  • Hospital and referral support for diagnosis and treatment
  • Community sensitisation on hepatitis prevention and transmission
  • School outreach on Behavioural Change Communication (BCC) and good health practices
Reproductive Health, Rights & Personal Hygiene
We sensitise students and young people about reproductive health and rights, personal hygiene, and good health practices to help them make informed and healthy choices.
Our school and community sessions cover:
  • Adolescent sexual and reproductive health and rights
  • Personal hygiene and menstrual health management
  • Behavioural change communication for students
  • Life-skills mentoring and self-esteem building
  • Safe spaces for confidential dialogue and counselling
How We Implement the Program
The program is implemented through schools, churches, community outreaches, and youth gatherings using trained peer educators and health workers.
We use dialogue, information materials, counselling sessions, and referrals to ensure communities receive accurate and confidential health support.
Program Impact
Communities become better informed about HIV prevention, reproductive health, and available services.
The program reduces stigma, promotes early testing and treatment, and supports healthier behaviors among youth and families.
