Elderly Support for Seniors

Program Overview
We Support Vulnerable Older Persons/Seniors by Improving their Health , Dignity and wellbeing through healthcare access, Nutrition Support, Home based care, Psychosocial support, Livelihoods Opportunities and Rights advocacy. We Strengthen Family and community support systems to reduce isolation,Build Houses for the Elderly with delapidating houses and Toilets, improve quality of life and promote active Health Ageing.
We restore dignity to seniors through food support, safe shelter, medical care, and the everyday essentials many of them have gone without for years.
The Challenge
Many elderly persons in rural Uganda live alone, in collapsing houses, without proper toilets, beddings, or access to medical care.
With family members migrating for work or lost to disease, seniors are often forgotten—facing hunger, illness, and unsafe living conditions in their final years.
What We Provide
Healthcare Outreaches and refferals, Nutrition and food assistance,assitive devices , hygiene and dignity kits, capacity building for care givers, linkage to government social protection ,Counselling ,livelihood and income generating support ,Our support is practical, dignified, and delivered directly to the elderly in their own communities.
Our interventions include:
  • Nutrition and Food Security -Provide Food Packages—maize flour, beans, cooking oil, salt, sugar,Distribute Seeds and Farming Tools, Offer Nutritional education and meal support to the frail Older persons
  • Community Inclusion and Social Participation - Intergenerational activities, cultural events, community dialogue, leadership Forums that enable elderly persons participate in decision making and community development
  • Construction Build Decent Housing, Pit latrines / toilets to improve hygiene and dignity and assist with personal hygiene
  • Health care Services-Community Medical care Outreaches, treatment, and routine check-ups especially Hearing, Vision, TB screening ,Medication Support, Refferal to Health Facilities, Transport assistance to those with Chronic Illnesses in hard to Reach areas, We plan to build the elderly support Hospital where we support all of them
  • Livelihood and economic Empowerment-Support small businesses , provide vocational skills such as poultry, bee keeping, tailoring , Handcrafts and financial literacy training to improve household income
  • Psychosocial Support - Offer Counselling , Organize elderly support groups, Recreationaland social gatherings , Exercise, Peer mentoring and home visits to reduce loneliness and depression
  • Assistive Devices and essential supplies -Distribute Walking Sticks, Wheel Chairs,Blankets , Bedsheets,beddings, Eye Glasses, Hearing Aids Matresses, Mosquito Nets and dignity Kits to improve mobility and daily living
  • Nutrition and Food Security - Provvide food Packages,establish household and community kitchen gardens for the elderly and provide with seeds and tools
How We Implement the Program
Through Community Needs Assesments, Beneficiary Identification with local councils, Home Visits,Support groups, Care giver training, Distribution of essential items, Livelihood support, partnership with government and development Partners and health facilities, Regular monitoring to measure impact and improve service delivery.
FIRM teams visit each beneficiary, assess their needs, and deliver support directly—often staying to share a meal and pray with the seniors.
Program Impact
Elderly persons regain safe shelter, regular meals, improved health, and the comfort of knowing they are not forgotten.
Communities are reminded of the value of caring for their elders, and a culture of intergenerational compassion is rebuilt.
